Ayushmann is a popular Bollywood actor, who has done many street plays, was a radio jockey, did television shows and was host to several award shows. He worked in several MTV shows like Cheque De India, Jadoo Ek Baar and MTV Fully – Faltoo Movies. This multiple talented actor also became host on the famous reality show ‘India Got Talent’ that he co-anchored along with Nikhil Chinapa. He then anchored for Music Ka Maha-Muqqabla, hosted on Star Plus.
He then hosted 2nd season of India Got Talent and MTV Rock-On on Colors. He also anchored for Set Max’s Extra T20 Innings for IPL Season 3. Then he anchored for the dance reality show on Star Plus named ‘Just Dance’.
Success in the Bollywood industry
It was in 2012 that he made his debut in Bollywood with Vicky Donor directed by Shoojit Sircar with Yami Gautam as his heroine. Although being produced with small budget, it did receive critical acclaim. He also sang ‘Pani Da Rang’ which he composed along with Rochak Kohli. The song and movie were both well received. According to critics, he is complete natural actor and is regarded to deliver super confident performance. He also performances emotional and comedy scenes with great perfection and hence, has earned a huge fan following. He received several accolades for performances which includes Filmfare awards for the Best Male Playback Singer and Best Male Debut. For Vicky Donor, he won each and every debut awards organized.
He then anchored for the 2012 IIFA Awards, 2012 People’s Choice Awards as well as the 2013 Screen Awards. Later he appeared in the PETA ad campaign to encourage pet owners to get their cats and dogs sterilized. He then starred in Nautanki Saala directed by Rohan Sippy. The film enjoyed positive critic reviews upon opening and was found to be witty, amusing and uncontaminated.
In 2014, he acted in Bewakoofiyan, produced by Yash Raj Films, under Nupur Asthana direction. For this movie, he sung for the song ‘Khamkhaan.’ But this movie was unsuccessful commercially at the box office. However, critics liked his performance. Then in Hawaizaada, a biopic, he played Shivkar Bapuji Talpade, a scientist, which also did not achieve commercial success.
Dum Laga Ke Haisha was his next release in 2015, directed by Sharat Katariya. It enjoyed strong reviews and his acting was much appreciated by the critics. This movie went on to become a major box-office success and was produced by Yash Raj Films. It also received the National Film Award to become the best Hindi Feature Film in that year.
He did not get any movie in 2016 and in 2017 was back with the romantic drama “Meri Pyaari Bindu’ directed by Akshay Roy opposite Parineeti Chopra. Although termed a commercial failure, it received mixed reviews. He also featured in 2 more movies in 2017, namely Shubh Mangal Savdhan and Bareilly Ki Barfi, which received popular and critical acclaim and also became commercially successful.
